Small Joys is a fresh new voice in the Australian artisan gelato scene.

Our mission is to craft unique and exciting flavour combinations that bring unexpected joy to customers from many cultures.

Our gelato is guided by four core principles.

Made from scratch

We seek to make our gelato from scratch, using time-honoured traditional techniques from Italy. This means we do not use artificial flavouring pastes and powders. All our gelato and sorbets are made with integrity using real ingredients. Fresh locally sourced seasonal fruit, pure nut pastes, local Jersey milk from Sungold, just to mention a few.

Innovative flavours

We want to bring unique and playful flavour combinations that go beyond that of traditional Italian desserts, without gimmicks. We celebrate multiculturalism in food and our flavours will respect this. Miso caramel, strawberry shizo and Hong Kong milk tea are just some of the flavours you can expect.

Small batch

We keep things fresh by only making small batches of our product at a time and serving 10-12 flavours in our store. This not only helps us ensure we serve the freshest product possible, but also means you can always look forward to new and exciting flavours every time you visit.


Using our knowledge of the technical side of gelato and our restaurant experience, Small Joys will bring to you flavours that strike the perfect balance of taste and texture. We don’t hide our flavours with excess sugar, we get the balance right, adding a hint of salt to make them pop.
